Etihad Railway Crossing Risk Assessment
Project Information
SK Eng. Limited successfully completed Etihad Railway Risk Assessment Project as subcontractor to Petroka International, a reputed company with their offices in Dubai and London. The end client was ADNOC onshore and EPC Contractor for the project was CPPE. The project involved risk assessment of the 36″ MOL (Main Oil Pipeline) 1.2 and 3.5. crossing of the Etihad Railway to Jebel Dhanna Terminal in UAE. As part of the project assessment of various methods of Non-Destructive Road/Railroad Crossing of the railway line by the pipeline was carried out. These methods included Augur Boring/Thrust Boring, Micro-tunnelling and Horizontal Directional Drilling. Risk register/Risk Matrix was prepared for each method. Based on the project conditions, geotechnical conditions and Etihad Railway’s requirements, Horizontal Directional Drilling was recommended for the project. Calculations of Horizontal Directional Drilling was carried out to determine the load capacity required for the drilling rig and also the depth of drilling/drilling trajectory was proposed.
